The Slovenian Police operates a small fleet of Bell and Agusta-Bell helicopters. Helicopters have been in the Slovenian Police inventory since the Republic of Slovenia was a part of Yugoslavia. Then the official name of the Slovenian Police Aviation Unit was "Letalska Enota Milice". When the Republic of Slovenia became an independent and democratic state in 1991, the word Milice was changed to Policije, replacing the Eastern Europe term (Militia) with the more widely recognised Western Europe term.

 Current Status:
Slovenian Police helicopters are primarily used by the Ministry of Internal Affairs for various tasks: VIP transport, transport of various cargo and special police units, border monitoring, SAR missions, medevac and traffic surveillance.

Key Dates:

1967 Police Aviation Unit first established, as Letalska Enota Milice.

mid 1991 Police Aviation Unit renamed Letalska Enota Policije.
